What if I don’t have an Internet
connection?
If
you do not have a connection to the Internet, you can contact
Moonpod via email or by logging on to our registration web page
from any computer such as an Internet café, public library,
or friend’s computer. You will need to update your email
address to the system you are currently using by logging into
the members area of the web site using your customer password.
You will then need to send us your Challenge Code lock and the
matching new email address, we will create and send a unique
Response Code key for you. You can then type in the key words
or cut and paste them from a text file on the computer that
is running the game. Remember to only use a challenge code generated
on the computer you intend to play the game on.
My Internet connection is on a different
computer than the one I’m installing the game on. How
do I get my Response Code?
If
you send us the Challenge Code that the game created on the
computer you intend to play on, we will send you a Response
Code that will work for that computer. For example, you could
use a friend’s computer and a free email account to send
us your Challenge Code. Write down or copy the Response Code
from our reply email, and enter it the next time you start up
the game on your computer.
What should I do with my Response
Code?
Enter
your Response Code into the games registration screen.
What if I need to reinstall my game?
Go
ahead and reinstall. If you install to the same hard drive as
before, you will not need to get a new key. The game will display
the same Challenge Code unless you have made major changes to
your computer's hardware. Simply enter your original Response
Code again. You will not need to unlock the game again or contact
Moonpod. If your response code doesn't work just request a new
one from the registration screen.
What if I reformat my hard drive?
The
Challenge Code is based on the hard drive you installed the
game to. If you re-format your drive, you will need to unlock
the game again. Just go into the registration screen and request
a new response code.
What if I upgrade hardware in my
computer?
Your
game Response and Challenge codes will probably not change.
If they do you will need to request a new response code from
the game registration screen.
What if I obtain a new computer?
Since
you will likely be working with a completely new computer with
a different hard drive, the game will create a new Challenge
Code for that computer. You will need to create a new Response
Code to work with the new Challenge Code. This can be done via
the methods described above using the game registration screen.
What if I use a program like DriveCopy
to transfer the contents of one hard drive to another? Will
I need a new Response Code key for the game?
The
game will require a new Response Code if it is moved to a new
hard drive. The game will create a new Challenge Code and will
need a new Response Code.
What if my old Response Code does
not work?
If
your Challenge Code changes and a new Response Code is needed,
you may do so via the methods described above. Generally, the
only reason that your Challenge Code will change is if you change
the hard drive the game was installed on or the computer you
were originally running the game on.
How many times can I contact Moonpod
for a new Response Code?
You can request the same response code as many times as you
like. If you use a different challenge code each time then that
means you are trying to register the game to different computers.
In this case there is a time delay between each acceptable request,
and a limit of three different requests. This is to prevent
software piracy.
What happens if I can't register
the game?
Feel
free to contact our service department via email. It is Moonpod's
policy to permit our legitimate customers to use our products
to their full potential. You may be asked to confirm your registration
information to confirm your identity.
Can I install the game on more than
one computer at a time?
No.
Your game End User License Agreement (EULA) specifically allows
you to install your copy of the game on one computer at a time.
How does the Moonpod
protection system work?
Full version on CD-Rom
If
you choose to buy a Moonpod game on CD then the game will always
need the CD to be inserted into your CD-Rom drive when you want
to play the game. This system should be recognisable to anyone
who has ever bought a game from a shop and is very straightforward,
as long as the original CD is present then it should always
work. You should not duplicate the CD-Rom as it is an offence.
Full version downloaded from web site
All
Moonpod games are downloadable in their complete state, although
it will initially run in a limited demo format, the whole game
is still there, just locked away. The full version is protected
by a lock and key system that prevents unauthorized use of the
software. When you first run a Moonpod game you can create a
unique key that will unlock your software. The game creates
a unique lock for your specific computer called a "Challenge
Code", you can then unlock your game with a unique key
called a "Response Code". We have tried to make the
system as efficient and painless as possible, please bare in
mind software piracy is a crime and by implementing tougher
security we protect our income and ensure we can continue to
create great games for you. We apologise for any inconvenience
caused by our security system. If you copy the game and give
it to your friends it will run in demo mode until it has been
registered and unlocked onto their specific hard drives.
Both
the lock and the key consist of a unique series of letters that
are created especially for your computer. The key is stored
on your computer’s hard drive that the game was installed
to, just like the software that lets your CD drive or other
hardware work in your computer. The key can be generated immediately
with a simple web connection, but if you have a problem you
can get keys by sending an email to our service department including
your customer password, registered email address and challenge
code.
Once
the game is unlocked, you will always be able to run the software
without needing to contact Moonpod again. If your friend wants
to play just let him take a copy of the installer you downloaded.
It will always run in demo mode until properly registered and
locked to that specific computer. Do not use modified/hacked
versions, software piracy is a crime.
What if I register my legal copy
of a game then obtain an unauthorized or modified copy in order
to avoid re-registering?
The
act of illegally modifying and re-distributing Moonpod products
for any purpose is a criminal offense.
How much is shipping to my country?
Shipping to all countries is included in the cost. No matter where you live, the price you see is what you pay.
How do I send a game as a gift?
You will need to send the email address and password on to whoever you wish to have the game. The email address can be changed from the customer panel. It is also importnat to do this even with the CD-ROM edition, so that updates and support can be obtained.
Is it ok to buy a second hand CD copy of Starscape?
Yes, of course! However, do take care to ensure that any copy you buy includes the access codes to the customer panel. Without these you will not be able to download any updates to the game, and will not be entitled to any support.
Is there a way to upgrade a downloaded version of the game to a CD version?
Yes, login to the customer panel, and go to the 'Customer shop' section. Any downloaded products you have bought can be upgraded here by paying the difference.
Are the CD saves compatible with the downloaded version?
Yes both games use the same saves system. Each save is comprised of two files that need to be copied from the Starscape/data/saves folder.
