If I had no games, and wanted to buy a console, I'd buy a Dreamcast.
You can get the console and loads of classic games for next to nothing. Most of the games look almost as good as today's offerings (Video output and filtering is still superior in some respects to a PS2), and there's some total classics available. |

Unless you only plan on buying 2-3 specific games i.e. Halo1 + Halo2 + Fable, then there is no choice - get a PS2. Far more games available catering to a far wider range of tastes than anything else.
I'm spoiled, I have PC + XBox + GBA + GameCube + PS2. I have about 3x the games for PS2 than any of the others (not including PC of course). |

| I still haven't caved in and bought a console, so little time for games these days, but if I had a choice, it'd probably be PS2. Mostly its based on the amount of titles I could play (if I had said time), as I understand it, you can still play PS titles on it as well...If that's true, that significantly "ups" the number of titles you can play over the other offerings. |
