Random poll to get what people think of Fanboys. Personally, I am in the (5) category (save for one of my friends who's a nintendo fanboy, though a mild one at that).
So there, vote, and discuss. |

After seeing several hundred Amazon reviews for Half Life 2 - before it even came out, I have to say I'm in the 5 category.
We are all fanboys over something though - I'm a Ghost In The Shell fanboy... |

Can't stand em either, but I admit, I am a 'fanboy' in many regards, I just try my best not to show it. I'm a programmer fanboy, the anime "The Slayers" fanboy, epic music fanboy, etc... Get me near any good code and I get practically giddy, get me near any slayers shows and I instantly want to... well... program... If I start playing epic music (epic, as in influences your emotions in an attempt to overwhelm them leaving you with an experience of saving the world, or finding the perfect love, or something like that), I want to go program... Sadly almost no pop music or anything really modern like that have fallen into that category... |

I'm a fanboy of lots of things too, but at the same time, I have problems with those who seem much more out there than I am heh.
I picked 3 from the point of view that, for those I have common interests with, its nice to have something to talk about without the conversation turning whacked |

Fan... girls? Now, it was my understanding that girls in gaming were rare enough as it is, but Fan... girls?
(I mean, what are these 'girls' you speak of? )

females make up 26% of the gaming population while teenage boys are only 21% http://www.the-underdogs.org/denizen/
and fanboy/fangirl has nothing to do with games |

Fangirls are more often seen in anime circles. They're the ones that write all the yaoi fics. What is yaoi? Hot bish on bish action. What are bishes? Bishi are girly-looking cute guys. Feminine features, lithe build, feminine grace. Gayer than Richard Simmons in drag. Girls go nuts for that kind of thing. (Don't ask, I don't understand.) There's a lot of Lord of the Rings slash fiction out there now, all girls, all gay. |

Well of course there are Fangirls pertaining to Guys (though when have there never?), Anime, etc, but I meant pertaining to games.
Eek! Yaoi! I was hoping I would never have to think about it again...
Well, at least we guys have an excuse when declaring our love for... *eccentric* Girl on girl action. |

a fan boy and a fan girl is pretty much the same thing,
a FANBOY is a term used to describe a fanatical follower of a certain thing, not caring about wether it is good or not but rather it being of a type or thing makes it good.
Im deffeintly not a fan boy of anything im just as likly to hate the next episode of my favorate anime as i am to love it, however i basicly ignore fanboys and try to advoid arguments with them...if you can call it that. |
