Beams. I got an Avenger hull, and put in six beam 3's and 2 beam drones for a little extra firepower. Couple that with four batteries, and a single bomb 3 with a bomb bay, I was bloody invincible!

Plasma Torps > Fighters 
If enemies are off screen, I usually start flinging Plasma Torpedoes at them... it's neat to see your plasma torpedoes all angle for different targets, also I like spinning round in the middle of a retreat from a large ground, snapping off the torpedoes then continuing to run.
Sometimes, I just hide behind my Station. Level 3 Laser Cannon.  |

PLasma torps are nice until u run out of ammo. My plas torp warboat has an deversator hull and 6 plas torps and 2 missile drones, with about a dozen missle bays and a lvl 4 gen and shield and engine. AND it was moving like a tank  . Im one of those losers who play on easy and get the best stuff and pwn all the enemies. Gawd, i love starscape. |

Each Plasma-Torp Launcher stores 25 rounds, and each Missile Bay holds at least another 5.
25x4 + 5x4 (one missile-bay per launcher) means I rarely ever run out of Plasma Torpedoes, even when fighting against Gravitrons, and those are those ones that spit out fighters like crazy. That's well over... oh... 120, if not more, Plasma Torpedoes!
Correction; each bay holds 25 also...
225 Plasma Torpedoes. YE GODS.

I put them in the nose to maximise accuracy
Besides, I just replaced those Blaster Drones with Beam Drones. And I don't even HAVE Beam Tech yet. *laughs* |

I find it fun to get a lvl 4 engine and a lvl3-4 shield in zone 1 and put them on a devestator. What for? with a lvl 4 shield, yu can kill the drones with no weaps at all. Ram them!
Or you could sit there and mine while a stupid mindless drone wastes its time agains my overpowered shield.
Also, on the plas torp thing, yes, even with 225 plas torps i could run out. I sit in the node next to the boss and waste all the capships that come out and fill the aegis holds with rezziez. (Dont ask) |
