Yep
Had a lot to do with expectations though: I didn't expect there to be any drama at the end of a 'little' game like Starscape, so it caught me unawares. I thought it rounded off Starscape nicely, and made it feel like a complete experience. It is only a first step but I hope Moonpod continue down this road with future titles. I know a lot of people on the board want to see more of these elements brought in. |

Hmm, I appear to have broken the spoiler code on the board
EDIT: Ahh! no I haven't, you have BBCode defaults set to disabled. Fixed it in the above post. |

Yeah, sad, but I kind of liked it. At least it was more interesting than the typical "Yaay, we won!" that only features an interesting movie and little else.
For example I hated the ending of Warcraft 3. Sure it's nice rendered, but so dull. Without spoiling much, basically it's a movie of the bad guy getting killed. That was pretty much it, IIRC. Although I'm not sure if it was the final ending, I've just seen somebody finish it, and it might have been the beta. |

It didn't do much for me... it needed to be done with an animation instead of a gameplay graphics rendering, I thought. |

All things considered, I was pleasantly surprised at the story that there was. And the ending is really sad...

I was impressed throughout by the story, I must admit. I wasn't expecting plot twists like that. I liked the idea of the ending, I just felt its execution could have been improved.
I'm sorry, I'm a bit of a writer and artist myself, so I tend to be critical, even when I'm pleased. |

Spoiler (highlight to read): I've mentioned once or twice that Gunstar Heroes on the Megadrive/Genesis was one of my favourite games. The similarity of the ending makes me wonder if the developers have played it.
** Spoiler for BOTH Starscape and Gunstar Heroes **
Both endings consist of a major character piloting an incredibly expensive piece of space-faring technology into a sacrificial collision with an otherwise unstoppable enemy. (Who you kind of figured you'd already stopped by blowing him/her to bits, but evidently not.) Only big difference is that Green in Gunstar Heroes is atoning for repeatedly beating the cr*p out of you while mind-controlled, whereas Rin is just doing her duty as she sees it. |

I think that's a fair comment. For a start, music would help. I kinda like the end but it could do with a bit of beefing up. On my secret list of things I'd like to do is an animatic (like the intros) for that entire sequence, and get some appropriate music for it. One day... |

Funnily enough I've been playing that on and off but never got to the end! |

When we're rich we'll revisit Starscape in a George Lucas+Star Wars kind of way. Except it'll turn out good.
p.s. Han shot first. And the whole Jabba scene from ANH made me cry. |
