Pixar's new film - that was a bit quick. I hope they are back on form with this one (Cars2 wasn't great). Doesn't look hugely original from the trailer, but I'll certainly give it the benefit of the doubt. Still, it gains a mark for using Billy Connelly on the voice over Smile

That reminds me, my friend (and former boss) went to work for Dreamworks when Realtime Worlds collapsed. I think he's working on the tech discussed in this article, real-time rendering tools: http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-57324298-93/dreamworks-ceo-how-animation-will-change-business/

To be honest I'm not entirely sure what it means - real-time low-quality previews? Surely they have something like that already, no? I can't imagine they mean final-quality renders in real-time. I don't know. Maybe their 3D artists really are modelling with little more than wire meshes most of the time.

But yes, I'll be looking out for Pixar's Brave. It looks quite nice.

I'll confess the first thing the Connelly voice-over made me think of was "Muppet Treasure Island". The we got to the big sharp pointy teeth, and my brain flipped to Tim the Enchanter in Monty Python's Holy Grail. Not that either of those is necessarily a bad association, in the circumstances.
