| I'm not concerned about it from a marketing point of view. I'd like to do it for the exact same reasons you do. Does it suit you if I post my own posts on the dev diary forum? Dunno how regular or frequent but I'd like to give it a try |

Currently that won't work, because the dev diary forum is 'special' and gets auto-syndicated. I'm not sure of a way round that without removing the automation (which would be bad). Maybe if you just posted to the WA forum? I could then put a summary of anything significant in the DD forum when we post each month so nobody on the RSS syndication stuff missed anything interesting?
Although, I'm open to ideas... |

I don't know about you guys, but when i did this type of algorithm in 2D it was surprisingly complex to implement. I think I ended up using the Liang + Barskey method. |

Currently it's just doing an insane amount of ray casting. It's ok in the prototype though, but then we don't have anything very detailed in the test complex we've built and I'm sure it would slow down with further surfaces. This kind of Line-of-site stuff would really suit having the art designed round it too and would probably even be better in 2D. With 3D, you are dealing with planes rather than lines (although this prototype is only worked out in 2D) so some thing look a bit odd! Good fun though, it's a shame you can't make games with absolutely rubbish graphics! |

| The bottom two pictures made me think rather of the early X-COM games. Something in that line would probably have the same kind of geek/fanatic/person-who-likes gameplay appeal as Starscape and Mr Robot. |

There are like a million indy X-Com clones in development.
Now if moonpod were making one than that would be interesting. |

Yeah i did it with a combination of subdividing the main view triangle and parametric line clipping... it's a nice optimization but your obstructions need to be orthogonal. Then the number of iterations is roughly equivalent to the number of obstructions which is pretty efficient.
Personally I really like it as a game mechanic |

Yeah it does work (which was the point in the prototype). I suppose hide and seek is one of the oldest games there is, and we still do it now in most FPS games. Line of sight checking adds that layer to any 2D game and can be applied to all sorts of genres. |

Bigfoot? You mean Bigtrak? And even then, for shame! It's obviously the lunar jeep our of Lunar Jetman! And there's you with an Ultimate PTG avatar... |

I used to covet bigtrak when I was young. Sadly we were poor, so no Starwars Millenium Falcon or Bigtrak for me. Only the rich kids had them

Not yet sadly. There's a lot of options at the moment, and we need to discuss all of them thoroughly before we can make an announcement. |

My lower school in Cornwall had one we could use during Friday afternoon playtime. *sigh*

If not how to spell "out". I'm surprised you weren't tempted to put the mythical trailer in there as well. |
