Of course, it's Michael Bay, and therefore it will be rubbish...

Yeah, I actually finally got around to seeing The Island and thought it was pretty cool. I thought of it as an extension to THX 1138 since it shared so many of its qualities. Eh, but the Transformers? I might rent it, then again, I might not. I never really got into the Transformers craze.

Ok, both your film commenting privileges are hereby revoked!!!

Seriously, go and watch The Island again, realise it is terrible, and get on with life after Michael Bay.

You'll be telling me Pearl Harbor was good next - a film I'd rather have lived through the reality of than watched.

What's so terrible about The Island?

I'd love to tell you, but 2 minutes after I saw it, I forgot everything that happened in it.

Comparing The Island to THX 1138 should be a bannable offence.

LOL my bad!

Your very right about Pearl Harbour though. Quick, somebody list all of Bay's movies so I know what to steer clear of (The Island was a fluke really! I had no idea it was him).

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000881/

The problem is, they're all vaguely watchable, switch your brain off, Sunday afternoon filler*, so you can easily get lulled into a false sense of them actually being good.

*Apart from Pearl Harbor of course, that was best summed up by the team America love song.

Regarding the film's premise, Ben Affleck asked director Michael Bay, "Wouldn't it be easier for NASA to train astronauts how to drill rather than training drillers to be astronauts?" Bay told Affleck to shut up.

That's pretty funny if its true. Anyway, I never got around to seeing Armageddon - too many disaster/end of the world movies that year for my taste. Well, just the two, the other being Deep Impact which I did accidentally see while flipping channels. Couldn't be helped, late night TV watching sucks as it is. The experience was simply the lesser of two evils. i.e. Infomercials or a movie that sucked despite its being packed with star talent.

Another one you could lump in here is probably also The Core.

I thought The Island was actually kinda good... I don't really remember much of it though.

I DO remember that the clones somehow suddenly developed hormones and everything needed for sex even though they were genetically made not to reproduce. Mad

No, that's Jurassic Park. Smile
Haven't seen The Beach, so I won't comment.
In fact... I've only seen half of Armageddon (at least Peter Stormare did well in it.), Bad Boys and The Rock. And I've not seen one of them very recently.

In Jurassic Park, the dinosaurs had the ability to reproduce, they were just all female (For a time).
