More of an issue for me was how fiddly it could be trying to navigate the grid with keys.

You can use the mouse now, although version 1 was keys only.

Oh, I knew that you could use the mouse. I often did. I just sometimes preferred not to because I wasn't planning on spending any amount of time in the menus, and I didn't want to take my hands off the keyboard.

Nicely illustrated and explained, Chibi. Sorry I seemed a tad hostile, I was just getting the impression that it had become a trend to complain about Starscape the past few days, and didn't really pay all that much attention.

Anyway, I still don't think the current system is much of a problem, but if there WERE a fix done, I'd suggest that instead of making the whole grid visible at once, you could have the connections you already know of stay visible in the future so you don't have to try to remember which was which. Does that sound like an OK compromise?

So the "Paths I've used" become filled in? That seems okay. I still often wonder what the "Quickest paths" to places like HyperspaceNodes, BossNodes, and the CrewNodes are... (Not that you're supposed to know where those crew nodes are... are you? Is there a thread about that? It's been a long time since I've been to Zone 3...)

Maybe checkboxes that you can toggle on and off 'paths used' and 'quickest paths'? ^_^

I like the idea of "paths discovered" -- not that you followed them, but you visited a node so you knew which ways you could have gone from there.

Just coloring them in lightly could be really helpful.

The missing crewmembers should have an SOS beacon they engage, so you see a flashing green dot on the map. =D

That would make it too easy.

If you really get stuck you can use this map

I think it was Dove who made this.

She made that image a long time ago. I wish I could remember where we saved it...
