Just for a change, a scifi mmorpg! I've never heard of it before, but it is in open beta. You will need the 750MB client and here is a torrent for it http://btx.mmhell.com/fom_openbeta.exe.torrent As it is Beta it might be a bit rough, but at least it's free.

Interesting things
1. companies sell all in-game items, players work for companies and do all the mining and item crafting. The more profit you make the higher rank you get in the company. A fairly minor change from the norm but the idea of having to actually make profit to gain rank could make all the difference.

2. player assigned missions, the populace is split into company workers and gang members, the gang members are organized by rank. The guy at the top gets to choose five objectives for that week, each one split into multiple missions. This is then handed down through the ranks and assigned to everyone, from something big like "kill this player" to something small like "be ready to bear arms at this location if needed". The boss can lose xp and therefore his rank if he doesn't achieve his objectives, which means he needs to motivate the man on the ground to get the job done which could help encourage everyone to "join in".

Given the timing i.e. Everquest2 and WorldOfWarcraft this game might struggle to gain any visibility. If anyone has a go then please let us know if it is any good.

My biggest complaint about MMORG's: you cannot just come and pick them up when you feel like it. You will be hopelessly left behind.
