Because this keeps coming up, here's the facts so no one needs to ask again:

  • We don't care about swearing (and we'd probably beat you all in a swearing competition Wink ).
  • We don't however swear in front of children, and we recognise that most parents feel the same way too. There are lots of young children playing Starscape for instance who turn up on the site.
  • The forum (and entire site) is ICRA rated so content filter programs should accept Moonpod as child safe. As part of these requirements we are asked to make sure forums are moderated.
  • Bearing the above in mind: Going to lengths to bypass the swear filter is a sure way to **** us off.
  • Trying to argue that word x isn't a swear word, or saying that we in the UK may in fact be uptight about swearing is a sure indication that you have never visited the north of the UK Wink
  • At some point, I will add a profile option for registered users to turn the filter off. This will mean guests viewing the site get filtered and so we are providing our ICRA requirements. At this point, anyone who can't get their point across without swearing should shut the **** up about it.
    Wink

I am shocked and offended!

Err... your setting is back to front. "Bypass word filter" set to "no" will bypass the filter, and set to "yes" will enable the filter. Perhaps you should name the setting "Enable word filter". Or maybe it's just weird for me.

Oops!! thanks for pointing that out, what a glaring mistake Embarassed

It's fixed now - 'bypass word filter', will do exactly that...
