As xmas approaches, it's tradition at our house to play a survival horror game (in amongst watching asian horror movies - ring, the eye, juon, Pulse, MrVampire, etc). It has to be on a console so everyone can have a go.
They seem a bit thin on the ground these days and we've already had Alone in the Dark, Siren, Silent Hill and Resident Evil. So this year I've ordered Silent Hill 3 - supposedly very good and I never caught it on release.
Anyone else have xmas favourites? |

Eh money is a bit thin in this house. I've been going back over games I already have, like Uplink, Starscape. |

I'm going to play "Edna bricht aus", which is a german point-and-click adventure. After that, I'll probably play Jack Keane, which also happens to be a german point-and-click adventure.
For multiplayer games I'm planning to teach a friend of mine how to play Guitar Hero 3 so we can play duets and want to play Lego Indiana Jones on my new Xbox with him.
(I only paid 200 Euros for the Xbox 360 Pro with 60GB hard drive, headset and 2 games. Great deal just before christmas! Unfortunately games for the Xbox are far too expensive, if you ask me...)
So, no, Poo Bear, I don't have any xmas favorites, although I usually play through Half-Life 1 or 2 or the episodes during xmas holidays. But not this year, I think. |

I'm going to get my laptop back from my folks and bring it back down to Keesler. After that I will see if I can re-install vista without damiging my UBUNTU partition*. THAN I will start looking around for my copy of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Maby re-download starscape or buy Spore.
*tried to dual boot. Splitting my 2 partitions (windows and data) into three (windows unix and data) while spliting the c drive I clicked something I shouldn't have and reformated windows from NTFS to FAT32. Now windows is dead and I can't read data from unix.
Hopefully fix this when I get it back. |

Firstly, I wouldn't buy Spore. It's a nice game but just didn't hold my attention well enough to make the purchase worth it (conquer world, I'm bored).
Also, depending on how you plan to share your time between Windows and Ubuntu, you could try Wubi. The performance in Ubuntu is a bit slower but it makes installing and uninstalling it easy... very easy. Obviously if you plan to use Ubuntu as your primary OS it's not the best idea. In that case I'd probably set up the partitions beforehand using a GParted Live CD then just install everything into those partitions. |

Don't do that. That game is not good or fun at all IMHO. And it has a terrible restrictive DRM. |

Well, either that, or just by a good game.
(Both options can be combined, obviously. :-))
Edit: Of course I don't want to propagate pirating games. I'm just kidding. But Spore still sucks IMHO.

Obviously piracy is not something anyone on this forum would condone. |
