Before posting, make sure you are running the very latest version of the game. You can find out which version of the game you are running by looking in the 'readme.txt' file in the folder your game was installed to.
Before posting, please make sure you have the latest offical drivers for your hardware (and especially not beta or leaked drivers). In particular those for your graphics card. Over 90% of the 'errors' we have emailed to us are fixed by graphics card driver updates.
Make sure your hardware is stable
If your machine errors playing other games, please do not post bugs with Starscape. We thoroughly research all reported errors, so please don't send us on a wild goose chase when your hardware has problems. In addition, please make sure your hardware meets the minimum spec for the game.
Make sure you have at least DirectX 8.1
The game will run under OpenGL but there is a greater chance of hardware compatibility under DirectX as long as you have a recent version.
Make sure your OS is up to date
Microsoft often release patches and updates for Windows, most are minor but some can be very important.
If you are running or have ever run the Starscape trainer, again please do not post errors to us. This trainer was not released by us and is very buggy and WILL cause the game to crash within 20 minutes. In addition it can corrupt save games, so if you used it once then never again, you will still have problems.
Please do not post statements like: 'The game crashes please fix it!'
If there is a bug we really want to fix it, but you need to give us some clues or there is nothing we can do to help. Please also include the following:
Version of the game you're running
CPU type & speed
Amount of physical memory
Type of graphics card & driver version
If possible a detailed description of what you were doing when the problem happened.
Any screenshots of the problem (F11 in game dumps the screen to a 'screengrabs' folder)
Please don't let this put you off posting if you find a problem though, we treat all errors reported with the attention they deserve, and when we get the information required to find and eliminate a problem it makes everyone happy
