Remember that evil paper clip tapping on the screen <shudder>

This seems a much better attempt at injecting character into a microsoft product. She's called Nanami, voiced by J-pop singer and regualr anime actress Nana Mizuki, Nanami is here to help you build your own PC and install Windows 7.

Bring her to the west!

Wait? OS Tan's are official now?

But yeah, the Japanese are much better at anthropomorphizing things.
Clippy's problem is he came off as a creepy annoying guy. If it was a cute little girl, people would probably have more patience for it.

The trick is to remember that all inanimate objects are almost universally female. Ships are never refereed to as He, why should a computer?
