| Our main server has experienced a catastrophic hardware failure, instead of repairing it we've had it replaced entirely. This has meant the site was down for a short time. We are sorry about that as we hate to inconvenience our community. Everything should be back to normal now. |

Hard drive & motherboard failure. Our hosts then set up another machine but for some reason that didn't come online for 48 hours.
Then I don't sleep for a day updating and configuring it.
Then you have to wait for dns to update +12-24 hours.
It's an awful situation - we seem to have had a run of bad luck with servers this year. We may switch to colocated servers nearby next year. then if something goes wrong, we can just drive round to the server and fix it.
Plus, we can put a 4 drive mirrored raid array into it, and about 800 fans! |

Thank who you like, but don't thank Ensim - who's backup system just doesn't work in a myriad of ways. In fact, at every stage, Ensim failed, even down to connecting to an ftp site to grab the backups, then culminating in the backups simply not working. We do of course make our own backups, and the database (containing customer info, the forum, etc) is backed up twice daily. |
