A goofy little game, this is almost JUST like Marble Madness, but using modern technology. Being a fan of the original Marble Madness myself, I just had to plug this for other fans (read: nostalgic geezers who frequented the arcade scene) who may not know it exists

An interesting sidenote - this is supposed to be coming up as a game in the XBox Live Arcade sometime (Where you can purchase games through XBox Live and download them to your XBox for like... ten bucks or so). Kinda surprising for an indie game, if you ask me, but maybe they're looking for that retro feel for downloadable games... |

We already discussed this here:

Xbox Live Arcade looks like a great idea, but I'm not sure how much money it can make (does anyone know how many xbox live signups there are right now?). Looking at the list of games coming out on xbox live arcade, they all fit into the 'fun and colourful' stable. Starscape on xbox would be the easiest console conversion we could do, but it doesn't seem to sit well alongside the rest of the X-Box live arcade lineup, so I'm not sure if they would be interested. Some of the developers involved have told us that MS contacted them first, so I guess they missed us |

Woops! Didn't mean to duplicate a previous topic! I'll have to check the rest of the posts before I make a new thread next time... hehe
It surprised me, though. I mean, a game this simple really has no business being as fun as it is - kinda reminds me of FleaFall in that regard (small-time concept, big-time execution).
IMHO, though, XBox Arcade is just catering to a different audience than Starscape is. I think your game would be much more at home on the $40 retail shelves than it would be among the $10 Live Arcade selections. Another thing that Hamsterball and the other Live Arcade games have (besides fun and colorful-ness) is simplicity - whereas one of the things that drew me to Starscape in the first place was the fact that it WAS more complicated than the traditional one-button shooter.
Short version - Live Arcade sounds like it'd be really good for a game like Hamsterball, but Starscape really needs its place on the retail shelf (especially since it's more fun than any console action game I've played since Super R-Type ) |

You're too kind but yeah, I totally agree with what you say about XBox Live arcade, it's aimed at the casual gaming market. Oddly that's what 95% of indie games are these days, and it's our market, but we're not so casual.
Oh well, it would've been nice on a console! |
