This just shot to the top of my 2011 top10 films of the year list. It's set after a vampire outbreak wipes out most of America and all that's left are lawless isolated towns and violent gangs. It reminded me of 'The Road' in that is realistically bleak and the low budget works well and the actors give great performances with some fantastic characters. It also reminded me of Firefly in terms of people with nothing coming together and finding dignity and a sense of family even though their situation is hopeless. It's another post-apocalyptic film that works, because the writers put in the effort to make things work and fit together properly and make sense within the bounds of its own fiction. The same way that 'Dawn of the Dead' is so interesting because we see how people realistically deal with the day to day problems of such a crazy situation.
Don't watch the trailer or read anything about it, that would spoil it. Just go see it ASAP. Great movie!!
