When was the last really great fantasy hero movie? Conan the destroyer - epic, silly, wonderful. I'm trying to think of what we've had since that's managed to pull it off? Nothing springs to mind. The 13th Warrior was pretty good, but...

Solomon Kane has to stand beside Conan as a flawed classic and the story is by the same author Robert E Howard. The first half is a wonderful character building story of a truly evil man confronted by damnation seeking to save his soul. The latter half falls into extreme cliche as the hero faces his destiny. Considering the story dates back to 1928 maybe it is understandably cliched?

Still, great stuff. Go see it Smile
