On Fost's renders, there's blurry text on that "brain unit" or whatever it may be. I tried to duplicate that with two "Caution: Hot" decals -- one reading normally and the other mirrored and overlapping. It didn't look good, so I left the mirrored one there to constantly remind me to go back and fix it.

Fost: What do you think would be a good message for that component? Since this is the far future, I put "Caution, Cryo-Cooled"... now dangerously COLD to the touch instead of the opposite.

Bah! I went ahead and did it. The world's first Mr. Robot poseable build-it-yourself Nanomek. I've been sitting on this idea for over a year now (with five larger magnetically poseable robots preceding this one) and since I'm lacking some unknown factor towards the ability to make money off of it (despite it being clever and funtastical and easily stealable by Klutz Press or Megablocks) I will gift it upon you, the paper-model/Mr. Robot crossover enthusiasts who would delight in making and having a magnetically poseable Nanomek perched dangerously (magnetically) close to all of your delicate electronic equipment.

At this point, early in the pre-planning process of crafting your own Huey-bot, you may want to goto www.gaussboys.com and order $10 of these:

6mmX2mm neodymium magnets

If you are not a resident of the US, you should go to this second UK magnet web shop and order a similar amount of neodymium magnets (though Gaussboys does ship internationally):

uk-magnet.com

You'll have your own Neodymium magnets to play with (Fun!) and I'll be putting the finishing touchs on the Nanomek model... oh, things like color and photograph instructions.

Well, I missed getting a Wii this morning (Really, if I had gotten a Wii, I would have clocked in at least 11 hours of Zelda by now!), so I spent the rest of the day finishing this one up:

It is closer to release now -- the instructions will wrap it up. That's going to be a couple days of building and photographing.

Sorry for the slow reply - I'm miles away at the moment Embarassed

I checked the original texture, and it's just blurry text, so that sounds perfectly reasonable.

I am loving this project btw Smile

Wow. Those are amazing. What are they made of? Just plain paper?

Ingredients:

- Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print the file.
- Inkjet or Laser Printer.
- Card Stock (110 lb. (199 g/mē) weight) - thick paper!
- Aleene's Tacky Glue (Tacky PVA Glue) - it dries faster so you won't need to hold pieces together too long.
- 24 6mmx2mm Neodymium magnets ($0.12 ea. at gaussboys.com)

- Scissors
- A knife for cutting and scoring
- A ruler to help cut and score straight lines
- Pigment pen or Sharpie markers for edging
- Ball-point pen (for reverse-scoring)

All of this will be in the instructions too, with pictures.

I will definitely make these once the instructions are complete. I've made papercraft stuff before (Advance Wars tanks) and it was super fun and the final product looked awesome. These look even cooler because of the magnets. I can't wait!

Wow, those look awesome. There's definitely a part of me that wants to build a massive army of these guys, and then have them go forth and rain destruction upon my enemies. Of course, the "destruction" might have to come from my enemies laughing so hard they wet themselves watching me try and hand position each participant in the battle, but it'll still be fun.

Sergenth: Are you planning on charging for the schematics?

SethP: No, there will be no charge for the schematics. In fact, I'm giving away the source, so to speak, as the Word file can be modified by those who have Vector graphics skills. Also, I don't own any rights to sell Fost's creations, and I don't want to make him even furrow an eyebrow in my direction.

The only way I'd want to sell a paper model is "pre-printed" in a kit format, with magnets or whatever included, but getting stuff printed is very expensive unless one owns the printing press (and then it's dirt cheap). Just give me the lithographic printing press and I'm on my way!

I'll have the nanomek model download finished this weekend for sure! Nothing got done this week since I injured my shoulder at work, but I've fully recovered!
