I love finding bugs! I photograph them and send them off to that chick with the archives. Then I get pearls, which is good for shopping at Mammago's. I want that star ship drive...
Huh? Oh, sorry. Too much Beyond Good and Evil lately. |

Wait... "I.C.E. Breaker"... Have I heard that in KOTOR?
Lucky me I've been Homebrewing on the PSP in Lua recently, I guess |

Deja Vu anyone ? (5th post from bottom, and 4th post reply) You're memory is getting as bad as mine - never mind, it must be a glitch in the matrix
EDIT - Updated explanation link.
On a related note - anyone read 'Pattern Recognition' ? It's the only book of his I haven't gotten round to yet...

If you like others then get it. Sometimes concepts hurt my head like all other Gibson works, but thats just me. Cayce Pollard is my favourite character of his after Molly the woman with razor nails .
Come on Moonpod, when is the beta ?

I'll throw my 2 cents in. I think the extensible idea is the way to go. MMORPG's suck because you feel like you can't ever set them down, the game will get away from you. On the other hand, finite games like Starscape suck because once you beat them, the magic is never the same! It'll always feel the same beating it again. That means the player is more likely to set the game down.
Integrating the player-created content into the original game experience is exactly what Spore is supposed to do. (man, that's a cool looking game!) The key difference between that and mods for games like Doom, Quake, and the Sims is that the player no longer has to do mildly "techie" things to get that content in the game. Click click, it's there.
So kudos for putting the effort into that. I think you'll have a good chance of extending the life of Robot that way.
Also, just want to add complments to the graphics. The comment made earlier about feeling like toys you want to pick up and touch is spot on. The best toys out there are the ones you can't not pick up. The best games have the kind of graphics that you can't help but want to try to play. I'll admit it, I think that way when looking at the indie games online. Yeah, we talk about gameplay being king and not needing a $10 million budget but inexpensive pretty graphics beat out cheap **** graphics every day of the week. That's what got me to pick up the Starscape demo, the screenshots. What got me to pay for the full version was the gameplay that followed.

So, if we take that as the official date development on Mr.Robot began, then it means, Mr.Robot has been in development for 1 year 5 months. On May 25th, it will be 1 year 6 months.
It has been an exciting 17-18 months seeing how Mr. Robot went from concept to almost being done.
Keep up the great work! |
And if you factor in the time spent on Battlescape before that... |

We are always using various workaround for missing elements. You actually get so used to them that your imagination automatically fills in the blanks and it becomes possible to get a feel for what the game will be like.
So, even an alpha with one room would be missing some stuff! Probably best to wait until beta - although I've never understood people who enjoy betas, they are invariably not that much fun, because various things break and ruin the experience of the game! Although we do know someone who really enjoys finding bugs and makes a game out of that |
I think at this point we're pretty desperate to see something in motion. I have to admit, those animated gifs are great! A game like this cannot be imagined simply from the screenshots. |

You have to do the same thing a million times and you can't even copy and paste. If you want to copy something, try The Games Factory, or whatever they're calling it these days. I remember really liking their event editing system back when it was Klik 'n' Play. |
If you've ever tried the Warcraft III editor, it's very user friendly, able to support lots of time-reducing features such as copying and pasting, and still pretty powerful. |
