Hi. I've been playing Starscape for a few days now and I must say that it's pretty cool. There are some things that could be improved in my opinion, but I'll probably wait until seeing rest of the game before getting started with those.
My problem is that when I went to the outpost in Zone 3, I accidentally missed the mission objective that I have to complete in order to get the next piece of technology.
It would be very helpful if you could repeat the mission objective by going back to the outopost. I'd appreciate it if someone told me what to do in order to get it, because I can't seem to find this information in-game.
Thanks in advance, I'll try to manage without the aid of that technology for now (Already beat Zone 3), but would like to get it eventually. |

I think you have to have half of each resource to gain the next tech at any Xen outpost. So if you miss the text dialogues as you go, that's ok so long as you have resources. You can tell if you'd done this though by checking out your research topics to see anything new you don't have to know if you'd gained it.
At the posts though, you have to leave after the dialogue and then return to get the tech. The one visual indicator to know if you did is the gem storage bins besides scrolling through the research topics. If those got emptied and they were full before for example, you should have the technology. |

Thanks, that actually worked. Shows how much I save resources. I visited the place a couple of times with no results before
I assumed that the goal would keep changing in every zone, because the Zone 2 goal wasn't the same as the Zone 1 goal. (Which was the small resque mission) |

Yea, aside from the rescue of the old Xen base in zone 1, saving your stranded crew and beating all the bosses to get your drive unit rebuilt, there isn't much else that's plot driven (other than whatever else is learned in the dialogues story wise).
I'm hoping there'll be more mission specific stuff to do in a sequel though. |

I feel a little stupid now having just read the sticky
Well, I still think that the objective could be repeated when you re-enter the outpost without meeting the requirements.
Beat Zone 4 today. Getting there...
Something else I found interesting to do after beating the game normally: What kind of challenges there are? I saw the "Scavenger Hunt" one and thought that it was pretty neat. Has the game been completed with initial equipment? (aka no researching, no building, no using of collected items) Just my crazy ideas... |

Anything you can think of.
Try playing without shields.
Try playing without using any Xenarch tech.
Try playing using only one ship.
Try playing using only a prowler.
Try finishing in under 4 hours (or under 3).
Just pick things, and keep looking for something a little harder.

Nope. That would be completely insane. I don't think it can be reasonably done, not even in Easy. The Aegis would just get shredded... |

Nice idea..

Johns log
--
Day 1: The Aegis has launched into space for the initial dimension drive tests, As I write this we are just about to activate the drive.
I am sure everything will go well.
Ok..Its running now..
Cameras are showing a blue field..
Strange noises..
Wait..Strange noises? I didn't know there were..OHMYGODWHATTHEHECKISITAAAHHH!!!
--
Day 2:
I woke up on a makeshift bunk, The first thing I noticed was that the lighting was very..Sporadic..
I didn't know the Aegis was hit that hard.
Then my thoughts drifted back to before.. What happened?
Strange images flashed through my mind, But all I could remember is a strange crawling mass of flesh and metal tearing the Aegis out piece by piece..
Some of them looked almost human..Freaky.
I wonder if the Dimensional Drive spat us out into the Star Trek universe? <offtopic>(Bonus cookies for whoever guesses why I said that)</offtopic>

Day 3
I finally felt life return to my legs, I realised that I was in a sickbay.
I got up, Found some clothes and walked out the door, Followed the corridor that would take me out to the commons area on the Aegis..
"Hello Captain.." I began..
6 Seconds later I felt incredibly stupid as the heads of 4 crewmembers slowly turned towards me, This wasn't the command staff, They were the technicians onboard the Aegis, Just as this wasn't the Aegis commons area but rather the observation deck onboard a liferaft.
I slowly walked towards the windows.
Their heads still followed me as I reached for a chair, Pulled it up and gazed outside.
What I saw, Truely would haunt me for the rest of my life.
We were stranded on an asteroid, I saw a long grey expanse spiked with rock formations and perforated by the scars of battles..
Then I looked up
The first thing I noticed was the space outside, This was not the calm and quiet space you saw at earths orbit, It was tortured by strange nebulas warped by some twisted gravitational force, Odd transparent worms were dancing a strange pattern.
I turned my face to the rest of the crew and they all nodded in unison.
I turned back and was just in time to see a dimensional rift open.
I yelled "Guys, Guys! Its the Aegis!"
They ran fowards to the windows looking excited, But then we noticed another rift.
The Aegis didn't come out of either.
Strange alien warships poured out and started to pulverize each other, The display was both incredible and frightening, What if they noticed us? But my thoughts were cut short as something fell towards us.
A rock?...A missile?...An asteroid chunk?
It came closer and collided with our windows, And revealed itself to be a human body, But this couldn't have been human, It was twisted by wires and metal and..was..still..alive..
It flailed for a few moments before the rotation of the asteroid flinged it off of us.
I fainted.

Day 4
I woke up gibbering and sobbing, A hand rested on my shoulder while another brought me a hot chocolate.
"Easy there, We were all scared Spoiler (highlight to read): **** | too.."
I opened my eyes, The room around me was blurry for a few moments but coalesced into the flight deck, Only with makeshift beds set up and the snacks machine dragged in.
Who puts a snacks machine on a lifeboat anyhow?
But that worry was not at the top of my list, Rather questions like: "What the hell happened?" and "Where are we?" Flooded my mind and overflowed through my mouth.
The others assembled in the room looked at me sadly.
"We don't know."
"don't know!?" I yelled? "Well where is the Aegis? Why the hell are we not on it? Did you loose the bloody keys or something and got locked out?"
A stony silence filled the room, One man giggled but the man sitting next to him gave him a slap to the back of the head. He was quiet afterwards.
"We were attacked."
The events of the last few days came into focus, The strange beings onboard the ship, The anomalous view outside..
"We don't know where the Aegis is, During the attack you had been knocked out, We dragged you onboard the lifeboat with us when we escaped."
Suddenly I understood, We may not have been fighting aliens, But we were now fighting for our own life, And that battle came first.
I stood up and said "Ok, How can I help?"
