What really irked me about EV Nova is the fact that you did not know that you were signing up for a storyline..They just forced you into it.

I was so ****** off when my millionare warrior hit the Vel-Os storyline Smile

That sucks for a while, but when you finish it you can buy ships again - and you get crazy energy regen in any ship you pilot!

I like the rebel story best. Good quality ships, but not crazy power like those utopian bio-dudes.

Step 1: Kidnap Cornutopia (maker of Flatspace I&II)
Step 2: Use him to make a starscape/flatspace-like game (starscape universe, obviously, maybe after archnids invade, I dunno) that is massivley multiplayer.
Step 3: Profit!

Agreed. The polaris Raven ship was just too damn powerful.

I mean sure, When you first get it you have an Evilgasm and go beating up federation ships, But then its just too powerful and the game ends up sucking.

Too much of a good thing y'know..

@Alchemizer

I am 80% certain that the graphics in Flatspace can be found just by looking in the install folder, Feel free to make a starscape mod for flatspace...

I note that you are using HLSL and I wondered if you thought that the time has come for independent game developers to embrace pixel and vertex shaders? And also, would cg not have been a better choice to keep the option of cross-platform development open?

Oh, and as per usual - both games are looking wonderful and I anticipate their release more every time I read about them.

*slap*

Flatspace is a two dimensional game.

Flat - Two dimensional.

Just get an insect, Hit it with a hammer and violla! Flat.

I think he's commenting on what Doom III said. That it doesn't matter if it's 1D, 2D, 3D or 4D.

A one-dimensional game would be oh, so boring. Not to mention completely impossible.

Also, if you squash a bug, it's still three-dimensional.

Oh yeah? a 1D game is NOT impossible.

It will just be:

A. Hard to play

B. Hard to grasp

C. Boring

As for a 4D Game? Owing to popular opinion the fourth dimension is time..

So a 4D game would be something like a scavenger hunt with a time machine..

A 1D game would have no height. Or no width. How can it possibly be a game at all? Well, okay, if we define 1D to be a game a single pixel in height, for example, I guess you could play it. I can already imagine how one such game would play, but it's not very interesting.

If the fourth dimension is, as they say, time... Then all games are 4D. I mean, the time isn't the exact same when you start as when you finish, is it? So it's also a time-dimension game. Everything is, technically, 4D.

I could image a 1d shump... basically you fight ships, having to fire lasers, missiles, and use your shields at the right time. Wouldn't be that hard to make (I think) either.

Konedima, you can't have spaceships. Well, you can, only they'd all be one pixel in height and they'd all move along the same single pixel. There is no vertical movement nor graphics in a 1D game. Because if you add height to it, it's a 2D game.
