|
|
Hi, I just bought this excellent game after playing the demo, I must say this game is on par to Star Control 2 (in my opinion)
Just one little thing that really anoyes me. I would like to use the dpap on my joystick rather then the analog joystick. As far as I can tell my Analog Joystick is on axis 0 (which works) but my dpad is on another axis.
I cannot seem to get another axis configured.
Is there a small direct input or sdl input ap I could run to report to confirm this?
The gamepad runs fine in other sdl based games as well as directx based games. Os is windows 2000, latest patches.
Thanks |

| Sorry about that, what make of joystick is it? You might need to include a model number. There is a chance we've got one and have tested it as we keep a lot of PC equipment for testing. There are a million and one different joysticks in the world though so it might be a new one. |

ok, both direct x and sdl report the dpad on my xobx controler (I use a xbox usb to pc usb converter) as hat
Thus
hat left
hat right
hat up
hat down
is what I would like to use for direction.
I fear this would require code change. |

There's probably a third-party joystick-split program that would allow you to use the controller as multiple sticks and/or remap the axis assignments. They've got joystick interpreters that do almost everything else. |

An xbox controller, that's a new one, sorry I'd try following the above advice and see if you can get some kind of re-mapping software for it. When we do the next Starscape update I'll try and get a converter and look into it, presumably it is doing something non-standard. |

| It's not that it's non-standard, it's that it's a joystick with 16 buttons and four axes. The D-pad counts as a quartet of buttons, not as a stick. |
