I'm interested in all kinds of games, but I too am mostly a strategy gamer. I like coming up with new ways to do areas that I've done already or discover new areas on top of that.

With regard to puzzles, I dig 'em. I'm also addicted to adventure type games, and sadly they don't come by that often. So when I stumble on one or two that incorporate a few elements I like, its all the sweeter. Perhaps this one might have a bit of both? One can dream Smile

The vast majority of computer game players play solitaire and minesweeper. They may not be what you'd normally consider "computer gamers", and most would be unlikely to think to apply the term to themselves, but they're worth bearing in mind. It's a bit like the question of most popular programming language. You'd probaby think C or C++, but the number of people effectively writing programs by using Excel is amazing.

How about eating out, ever do that?
Very easy to spend $20 for ~2hours of smiles and a full stomach.
What about a proper night out, surely you can blow $50-100 for ~4hours entertainment and a sore head?

Wink

How about mmorpg's, especially the big ones like WorldOfWarcraft or Everquest2? You have to pay $50 for the game and take out a $15 a month subscription! Is that good value?

Anyone seen GuildWars? One of the attractive features is no subscription, you pay for the game and then if you want any add-ons you pay for them seperately as and when they come out. Sadly I suspect they've been able to do this by cheating as it isn't a mmorpg, it is more like an advanced version of Diablo. Everyone meets up online together (on the company's server) and then group up to go off and fight. At that point one of the players becomes the server and the group are playing together isolated from everyone else and not using much company bandwidth.

Check out this article on gamasutra about the lamentable state of mmorpg's (you have to register though)
http://www.gamasutra.com/features/20041103/bartle_01.shtml
It kind of explains why mmorpg's all feature the same simplistic levelling, everyone play nice, grindingly dull gameplay. Or maybe i'm bitter because there is no free beta for World of Warcraft in Europe, $50 up front is the only way we get to see it, no free trial.

i dont play those play those over vaunted MMORPGs like evercrack! although i do play iRO, but $15 for a month of enjoyment is well worth is and only 50 cents a day.
as for a proper night out the only occassion for me would be if im with a girlfriend and that can lead to much more then a romantic night out

I like some puzzle games, but there are very few that I'd buy. Fitznik 2 comes to mind, and possibly Dweep.

Still, I know what you mean. The amount of sales some of these "Match 3 of the same color" games get boggles the mind! Shocked

Yes, go to popcap - the games there sell for either $20 or $25. Now, I don't want to sound down on their games, and I like them, but hopefully, everyone can see the amount of content in a game like Starscape is much greater than anything on their site.

It's obvious it's no less of a genre though - sales are very strong, and the titles are of a high quality (it probably takes as much devlopment effort to make a good puzzle game, because you often have to make a few and discard the bad ones). This all just comes down to preference.
