Another thought.

Maybe what the industry needs is less prepackaged games with stories and ****, And More toolkit games where the users can make there own scenarios?

More open world games with more unending procedurally generated content.

Fable3 is very linear and it gives value for money, but so much time and love has gone into the modelling of the world it's just a shame it's over in ~9 hours. I think they should have shrunk the linear story/quest down to a 10th of what it is and then spent the rest of the time beefing up the procedurally generated missions and npc AI.
