If you want to survive as an indie then you need to simplify and downscale, bring those bills right down and focus on what is important. Family holidays, like everything else in our society, get more expensive each year, but I think they are really important, especially for children.
So I decided to take one of the few remaining cheap options available - camping! An added benefit is we can take Sunny with us, rather than paying to put her in kennels. It made our lives difficult as there aren't that many public places that allow dogs in, but she certainly enjoyed it
She didn't like the long car journey and drooled all over the dashboard
Was it cold? Yes.*
Was it uncomfortable? A little.
Was it fun? You bet
*note - if you pay a bit more ~£20 a night you can get electricity with your pitch, a small electric fan heater can then be used to keep the chill and the damp out if you leave it on all night. Obviously you need as low a power heater as possible (~1.5kW max) and it must have a thermostat so it doesn't over heat. |
