A vision of the future from 1958. Entertaining to spot which ideas are way off, which were spot on and which were almost right.



My favourite is the tunnel digging machine that appears to use an exposed atomic pile to melt its way through Smile

Oh America and our highways...

I think my favorite part was how none of the highways had more than one or two cars on them at once. If these highways are going to make our lives so much better, why aren't more people using them?

Well one could argue that they do make our lives better only if one or two people use them at a time.
The biggest mistake of this film is failing to anticipate congestion and all its ill effects.

It did menton urban sprawl.
It just assumed it would be a good thing. Which It would be if it weren't for the problem of moving all those people.
