Yes, it's really well put together. Beautiful menus and art, and it's a really original idea.
They are entering the IGF student showcase, and they certainly get my vote.
As a game - it has perhaps limited scope, and there's some minor issues:
*It's generally easier to play from above, but the camera seems to do everything it can to stop that working. At least defaulting to slightly above and behind the character would help.
*It's easy to lose the character in the clouds. Some kind of icon drawn over the clouds to show where you are would help.
*I don't see the point in the clouds falling off you if you drag them too fast - just slows the game down.
*The lollipop drawing bit would have been more fun if I could have drawn in a much more fluid way, and could have looked down a bit easier. I ended up having to dop each cloud individually, and each time you start 'drawing' with clouds, the camera resets to the more unusable view.
*Draw distance is limited - and there's no cloud map, so in the bit where you have to turn black clouds into rain, you can end up getting lost because the black clouds dissapear. It's odd, because if you are in the middle of the map, all the clouds are being drawn anyway, so I doubt it was for performance reasons. Maybe some z-buffer issue. In any case - could be fixed by moving the clouds closer. |
