|
|
I thought this might make a nice thread to complement the rts one in the Battlescape forum, since Mr. Robot looks like a 3D platformer (If I was being honest, I am not sure what Mr. Robot looks like! puzzle game?, platform game? adventure game? role playing game? The bottom line is it looks very interesting!!)
So, recommendations for 3D platform games? Mario 64 is the obvious choice, so I should get that out of the way. What else is there? |

Well: is really 2D in 3D world, but Viewtiful Joe?
I like too 'Bill Hatcher and the Giant Egg'
but not many reviews like it. |

I don't think I've played 3D platformers (didn't have an N64) unless you count 3rd-person games like Oni or Tomb Raider? I never really 'got' Tomb Raider either. Oni was great, though, and there was some jumping.
How about Prince of Persia? Would that count? |

I've mentioned it before, but Donkey Kong 64 is actually really good. Its only problem is that sometimes you'd be forgiven for thinking you're playing an MMORPG, the number of things you have to collect. It plays similarly to Mario 64, but with five different characters to switch between, all with weird abilities. It doesn't really feel as coherent as Mario 64, but I think few games could.
Banjo Kazooie was also really good. I can't remember if I liked it more than Donkey Kong 64, but I think it was a bit more focused. I've never played Banjo Tooie, and I'll probably have to get it off Ebay now. |

I hear extremely conflicting reviews of Mario Sunshine. Anyone here played it?
I should track down a copy for our GC.

Mario Sunshine: Only very briefly. Playing it on someone else's Gamecube, I didn't have a lot of time to get into it. It's hard to say if I'd like it in the long-run, but I felt disappointed that it didn't grab me like Mario 64 did. I missed being able to do things I could in Mario 64, and didn't feel greatly inspired by its water-cannon gimmick. It just seemed weird and clunky, and I missed the feeling of being Mario with no impediments that M64 had achieved.

Banho Tooie is best for Banjo 1. Like Banjo 1 but everything better, and some new fun things. If all sequeled game are built like this would be a good thing. Only thing is I am not good for Banjo shooter (like quake bit) with egg firing bird . Looks good but.
Maybe they already say you can play banjo on Revolution??
